In an A1 + A2 German combination course, the syllabus typically covers the following key areas:

Learning the alphabet, sounds, and pronunciation rules, including common letters and sounds unique to German (e.g., umlauts: ä, ö, ü).

(Verb Conjugation, Tenses, Accusative, Dative,
Comparative Degree, Reflexive Verbs etc)

  • Essential vocabulary related to everyday topics: family, work, hobbies, shopping, travel, and food.
  • Basic and Elementary conversational phrases like self-introduction, greetings, asking questions, giving directions, and small talk.
  • Role-playing everyday situations like introducing oneself, making appointments, ordering food, asking for help, and shopping.
  • Writing messages (emails, postcards) and filling out forms with personal information.
  • Developing the ability to understand basic and elementary spoken German (e.g., listening to simple conversations, announcements, or instructions).
  • Reading and comprehending short texts such as signs, menus, schedules, and simple articles or stories.
  • B1 introduces everyday and semi-formal themes such as travel, work, health, celebrations, media, school, and the environment.
  • B2 deepens the discussion into more abstract or societal topics including education systems, intercultural communication, digital transformation, climate change, and global issues. By the end of B2, students can handle both personal and professional themes confidently in writing and speech.

• B1 focuses on structured conversations such as describing experiences, giving reasons, and expressing plans and hopes.
• B2 enhances argumentation skills like agreeing and disagreeing, clarifying opinions, handling misunderstandings, and participating in formal and informal discussions. Students move from sentence-level communication in B1 to paragraph and idea-based conversations in B2, developing fluency and resilience in conversation

• B1 covers past tenses (Präteritum, Perfekt), modal verbs in different tenses, adjective endings, relative clauses, subordinate clauses (weil, dass, wenn), reflexive verbs, and separable verbs.
• B2 expands on passive voice, subjunctive II (hypothetical and polite forms), indirect speech (Konjunktiv I), advanced connectors (such as sowohl ... als auch, weder ... noch), noun-verb collocations, prepositional phrases, and nominalization. This grammar development allows students to move from basic accuracy to stylistic flexibility and sophistication.

  • B1 trains learners to understand clear standard speech on familiar matters such as announcements, simple interviews, and workplace conversations.
  • B2 increases complexity by exposing students to news reports, debates, and podcasts, helping them extract main ideas and specific information—even with background noise or regional accents. They learn to distinguish opinion from fact and identify tone, implication, and speaker attitude.
  • • B1 encourages structured dialogue, such as talking about past events, future plans, opinions, and making suggestions.
  • B2 develops spontaneous and fluent speaking through activities like presenting arguments, holding debates, telling stories, and giving formal presentations. By the end of B2, students are confident speakers in everyday, academic, and workplace settings.
In an A2 + B2 German course, the syllabus typically covers the following key areas:
